Join Contemporary Asian Theatre Scene (CATS) for a unique Tai Chi-inspired Poetry Workshop that integrates the ancient practice of Tai Chi with the expressive art of poetry. This workshop, led by renowned artist and poet Flo Oy Wong and Tai Chi Master Nelson Ng, will explore connections between these two practices of mind/body expression. Participants will engage in Tai Chi movements inspired by nature, which fosters self-discovery and creative practices to move towards poetic formats such as cinquain, haiku, American haiku and more.

Through this workshop, you will

  • Learn the differences between Tai Chi and Qigong, and how both practices can enhance your creative process.

Facilitators

FLO OY WONG: An esteemed artist and poet, Flo Oy Wong bridges the concepts of Tai Chi and poetry, highlighting the value of unconventional approaches to learning. Flo will co-lead this poetry workshop that will emphasize self-discovery, creativity, and the importance of balance and self-expression through simple and engaging visualizations and writing exercises.

NELSON NG: A Tai Chi master, Nelson Ng explains Tai Chi as a form of expression, similar to calligraphy, where each person’s practice is unique. He emphasizes the importance of self-discovery, patience, and persistence in learning.
